The performance is drawn from the eponymous song-novel that tells the story of two lovers, Max and Masha, written in ballad style, like a beguiling fairy tale told in front of a fire. The two meet in Sarajevo and one night Masha, a wild, attractive and mysterious woman («Tartar eyes and long femurs») sings Max a song about the yellow fruit, without knowing that it spells their common fate. Three years later, their love ignites just when Masha falls ill. A wind starts blowing that stirs the soul and the senses, triggering music and verse, mixing languages, wrenching tears and dreams. Max’s adventurous journey across Masha's land, all the way to the shores of the Bosphorus is a combination of ritual, discovery and rebirth.
